Textile weaving is an ancient craft still practiced throughout many regions of contemporary Asia. Although some of our rugs are created in modern weaving facilities; others are still created by nomadic tribes, who live in remote and barren regions and routinely set up and dismantle their looms to migrate with the seasons. To the Westerner, there is a romantic idealism and simplicity inherent in this lifestyle and the creative works of textile art that it produces.

We hope these images offer a glimpse of the realities of the modern weaving culture, as they reveal both the beauty and the hardship of this enduring lifestyle. It is with respect and admiration for this centuries old talent that we share them with you.
